Hi folks! I understand how hard it is to open up and share about yourself in therapy to someone you don't know so here's a little about me in exchange.

How am I allowed to be a therapist? I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. I'm a Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland.

Why do I do this work? I'm passionate about supporting others through their life challenges. I haven't met a single person, professionally or personally, that can't benefit from therapy in some way. Therapy isn't just about "fixing" something; it's a nonjudgmental, objective place to explore your thoughts and behaviors, figure out how to grow in new directions, and be able to express yourself. Ultimately, we all have to take responsibility for who we are, what we choose to do, and how our choices impact the world and those living in it. In fact, my favorite quote from Cloud Atlas embodies this concept beautifully: "‪Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future."

Who am I as a person? I always try to show up to session as my genuine self, meaning I like to use my sense of humor and I make an effort to keep it real. Outside of therapy, I am a wife and mom. I enjoy reading, video-gaming, and adventurous activities, whether it be rock-climbing, scuba diving, hiking, or whatever latest-and-greatest hobby that I've decided to make my whole personality. I won't lie that I also enjoy my couch time watching movies and TV. My music taste is... shall we say, eclectic.

Who am I? I'm a licensed social worker in Maryland! I was born and raised in Canada and have lived in Maryland for the past five years, working in a myriad of mental health settings such as suicide prevention, outpatient mental health, and substance abuse agencies. I have been fortunate to provide support to people experiencing different stressors, diagnoses, and reasons for seeking therapy.

What's my take on therapy? While I have been formally trained in a variety of areas, I believe that therapy should be something that works for you and tailored to what you deem most important for you and your life. I am open to discussing with you what might be helpful and how therapy can be as beneficial to you as possible! I am happy to connect with you in any way you feel most comfortable to see if I might be a good fit for you and your goals.
